On the 5th of May 1945 the concentration camp Mauthausen was liberated by allied armies. Since 1998 this day has been a commemoration day against racism and violence and for remembrance of the victims of National Socialism. Therefore we will organize a visit to the Mauthausen Memorial on the 3rd of May in order to learn about this tragic episode of Austrian history and in order to commemorate the victims of the holocaust in Austria and worldwide.
On the way to Mauthausen we will introduce you to this topic by showing a film that is connected to it and by giving you a short overlook over the historical situation. In Mauthausen we will have a guided tour around the premises of the former concentration camp and will get to know how the prisoners lived and died in the camp. You will also learn about the circumstances that led to construction and liberation of the camp.
Afterwards we drive to Linz, where you have a short guided city tour before enjoying a coffee together with us. In Linz you can talk with your friends about the impressions you collected in Mauthausen and also explore the city a bit by yourself.
